A Couple of Cool Kinetic Digital Display Ideas…

Written by Richard Cobbold | November 7, 2025

Moving images on a screen are one thing – but moving images on a moving screen deliver a whole extra dimension. The human visual system is highly attuned to real-world motion. This kind of movement delivers instinctive attention – so if you’re looking for a digital solution that delivers an extra dynamic edge, then take a look at these innovative digital kinetic display ideas…

The Slider

Spotted on a recent trip through Singapore Airport – this huge mega-LED advertising board jumped off the wall straight into my eye-line. It’s a clever trick – because the big background image doesn’t change (its just a standard light box), but the mobile LED netting delivers the dynamic digital story as a see-through overlay to background. Clever because a full LED wall of this size would have been pretty expensive – so the dynamic netting not only delivers impact, but is also extremely cost effective.

It’s kind of a similar concept to a recent DVSI installation – where we enhanced the slider experience by making the movement user controlled and interactive.

As the viewer you move the screen, which is mounted on rails above the graphic light box. The clever trick here being that the system aligns the content on the screen to perfectly match the background image – so it appears see-through – whilst in fact being a full interactive 55” display. The user is able to interact with the display at any point on the journey and bring the whole story life as an immersive interactive experience. A whole interactive wall, for the price of a single touch screen and a graphic light box. A full multi-sensory, participatory digital experience that you can’t help but want to engage with.

The Rotating Pillar

Here we’re taking a slightly different path. Not just movement – but synchronized movement aligned with synchronized content. Not one kinetic display, but 3 big 98” displays on columns, programmed to rotate 180 degrees in perfect sequence. As the displays move – so the content tells a choreographed story that jumps between one screen and the next, before the creative finally aligns across all 3 displays as they line up with the middle of the room.

It's a truly engaging effect in an extremely busy corporate lobby. A space where people are moving quickly, orientating themselves and attention is scarce. The impact of the slow controlled movement of these large physical blocks leaves a lasting impression in a way that standard digital just can’t match.
